On September 21, Yan Wentao, a partner at H Capital, officially joined DeepSeek as Chief Financial Officer, marking the first time the company has filled its long-vacant CFO role since its establishment three years ago. This move signals enhanced corporate governance and financial management at DeepSeek. Yan, born in 1991 and a graduate of Fudan University, previously worked at Tencent Investment and H Capital from 2013 to 2020. His appointment comes as DeepSeek’s second round of financing nears completion, with the company reviewing limited partner (LP) lists over the past two weeks. Some LPs, including those with state-owned capital and non-listed backgrounds, did not pass the review.
