YouTube introduces custom feeds powered by AI for personalized video recommendations

YouTube has launched a new feature called custom feeds, allowing users to create personalized video recommendations using AI. The feature, introduced on Wednesday, lets users describe in their own words the types of videos they want to see, such as podcasts for a train commute or relaxing commentary videos. The AI-powered tool, based on Google’s Gemini model, generates feeds that appear as a tab at the top of the YouTube home page. Emily Moxley, VP of Product Management for Viewer AI, highlighted the vast video library on YouTube, emphasizing the platform’s ability to offer diverse content. The new feeds will coexist with YouTube’s main feed, enabling users to switch between different content preferences easily. The feature will be available on web and mobile starting next month. This follows similar initiatives by platforms like Bluesky, Meta, Instagram, and Spotify, which have also introduced AI-driven feed customization options.
