Zach yadegari's AI startup achieves viral success through influencer strategy
Zach Yadegari, 19, founder of Cal AI, has achieved viral success with his AI-powered calorie tracking app, which was launched in 2024. The app, which generated over $30 million in revenue within two years, was acquired by MyFitnessPal in March 2026.
Yadegari attributed the app's rapid growth to a strategy of hiring a large number of influencers to promote the brand. He noted that an influencer's post led to approximately 1,000 new users in two days, prompting the company to scale its influencer recruitment.
Yadegari emphasized negotiating rates with influencers, promising payouts for specific reach metrics. He also highlighted the importance of finding influencers with tightly knit communities. Earlier this month, Yadegari launched Persona, an AI agent startup that has raised $10 million.
The company aims to make computing seamless with human life, integrating its AI assistant across various platforms, including iMessage and email.
