Zhipu confirms ox alpha as new GLM series model, set to release weights
Zhipu has confirmed that Ox Alpha is a new version of its GLM series, set to release its model weights tonight. The announcement comes after speculation about the model's identity, which was previously linked to the GLM-5.3 series through token analysis.
OpenRouter, the largest AI aggregation platform, launched Ox Alpha on August 20, offering it for free during a preview period. The model quickly gained traction, reaching the top of the platform's usage rankings and setting a single-day usage record.
OpenCode, a terminal programming intelligence agent, also provides the model through its free tier, claiming it can process up to 100 trillion tokens per day. Researchers conducted a tokenizer fingerprint analysis on 25 prompts and found that Ox Alpha's token count closely matches that of GLM-5.3, with only a constant 75-token layer discrepancy.
