Apple unveils ai-enhanced devices with focus on on-device intelligence

Apple has launched a new lineup of devices, including the iPhone 18 series, Duo foldable phone, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Ultra 4, emphasizing their role as intelligent personal hubs powered by AI. New CEO John Ternus highlighted how these devices are designed to capture and understand user data for personalized experiences. The A20 Pro chip, featuring a dual 16-core Neural Engine, doubles the on-device AI compute power compared to previous models. Apple’s AI-powered Siri, now called Apple Intelligence, offers context-aware assistance across messages, emails, and photos, with real-time visual analysis in the Camera app. Analyst Tom Mainelli noted that Siri AI will remain in beta even after its release later this quarter. The Duo’s foldable design allows users to interact with Siri while viewing content on the other side of the screen.
