Google and others fund biohub's ai-driven disease research
Google DeepMind, Meta, and Isomorphic Labs have collectively invested $300 million in Biohub, a nonprofit biomedical research organization co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan.
This investment is part of a $1.8 billion initiative aimed at developing AI datasets to enable researchers to digitally explore biological questions, potentially leading to new methods for disease prevention and management. Biohub, established in 2016, seeks to address diseases through the development of a 'virtual cell' for simulation purposes.
The U.S. Department of Energy has also contributed to this effort. The funding underscores a growing collaboration among tech giants and startups to advance AI in biomedical research. The initiative is reported by Reuters, with further details available at The Verge.
