Google launches private app development feature for android users

Google has introduced a new feature allowing Android users to create and run private, vibe-coded apps directly on their devices without publishing them on the Google Play Store. The feature, available initially to U.S. users aged 18 and above, lets users launch personal apps via their Google account, keeping them completely private and not visible in Play Store listings. Sam Bright, Google’s VP for the Google Play and Developer Ecosystem, emphasized the shift toward personal, secure, and user-driven app development. Users can later share these apps with trusted friends or transition them to the Play Store if they gain popularity, after safety reviews. The update also includes AI-driven features like Game Finder, personalized recommendations, and enhanced community interactions within the Play Store. Additionally, Google is rolling out an age-range feature to help parents provide age-appropriate experiences for children.
