Meta's AI app Muse sees strong user engagement and spending
During its third-quarter earnings call, Meta revealed that its AI app Muse has attracted over 10 million users, with a significant portion engaging daily. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted that 25% of users now use Muse regularly, contributing to improved retention. Notably, over a quarter of engaged users who shopped via Muse spent an average of more than $200 per transaction, a figure that surprised industry insiders. Zuckerberg also noted that Muse's integration with Plaid's financial services has led to unprecedented activity, underscoring its potential in agentic shopping. Beyond commerce, Muse is also being used for productivity tasks, reflecting user trust in its security features like 'Muse Secure VM.'
Meta plans to scale Muse, aiming for higher revenue per user than its existing apps. The company expects Muse to eventually generate more revenue per user than Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger combined. While Muse will remain free for most users, a share of the commerce revenue will be retained, with premium features available for purchase. Zuckerberg also outlined plans for a 'Muse network,' enabling collaborative AI interactions across users' networks. Additionally, Muse will play a key role in Meta's smart glasses strategy, which is projected to reduce losses from $19.1 billion in 2025 to $15 billion in 2026.
