Microsoft + OpenAISource: TechCrunch - AI, Bloomberg29/10/2026, 00:43
Microsoft has achieved 10 consecutive quarters of record-breaking revenue, reaching $92.3 billion in the latest quarter, a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. The company also reported a 32% rise in net income to $36.6 billion, driven largely by its Microsoft Cloud division, which generated $63.9 billion in revenue, up 30% year-over-year. Microsoft's cloud revenue includes $33.2 billion from Azure and $28 billion from Microsoft 365, though not all of this is directly tied to AI. OpenAI contributed $10 billion in revenue through commercial arrangements with Microsoft. The company also noted a 73% increase in its commercial remaining performance obligation to $677 billion, reflecting future revenue commitments from AI initiatives. Microsoft spent $45.2 billion on capital expenditures, another quarterly record, as it invests in infrastructure to support its AI growth. Revenue in the Devices and Consumer segment fell 3% to $15.5 billion, with Windows OEM and devices revenue declining 22% year-over-year. Despite competition from AWS, Oracle, and others, OpenAI continues to rely heavily on Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. Microsoft's reorganization into two business segments—Agents and Infra, and Devices and Consumer—highlights its strategic focus on cloud and AI-driven growth.
