Openai's annual revenue falls short of $500 billion estimate

According to a financial report disclosed to OpenAI investors, the company's annualized revenue is approaching $500 billion, falling short of earlier projections by approximately $200 billion. This figure, equivalent to about 1,342.49 billion yuan, contrasts with media estimates from last month that suggested revenue could reach $700 billion, or 4,698.72 billion yuan. The discrepancy stems from differing accounting methods between OpenAI and its competitor Anthropic. While Anthropic includes revenue from cloud providers like AWS and Google Cloud, OpenAI excludes such income. The financial report, released by the Financial Times, triggered a decline in the U.S. tech sector, with the Nasdaq 100 index dropping 1.4%, and stocks like NVIDIA and Oracle falling over 5%.
