Tencent launches open platform for workbuddy, expands agent capabilities

On September 2, 2026, Tencent WorkBuddy officially launched its open platform, open.WorkBuddy.cn, introducing over 100 ecosystem partners in its first phase. The platform exposes underlying Agent capabilities to smart hardware, industry applications, and developers. Nine co-branded smart hardware products debuted at the event, including partnerships with Plaud, Rokid, Insta360, iFLYTEK, Anker, Muyu, and JD.com's JINGZAO brand. Over 30 industry applications were also connected, spanning more than 20 fields such as finance, law, healthcare, education, and public welfare. Liu Yi, Vice President of Tencent Cloud and head of Tencent CodeBuddy & WorkBuddy, emphasized that true productivity lies in connectivity and scenario coverage rather than tool power. He stated the goal is to build WorkBuddy into an operating system for the Agent era, supporting all tools rather than creating a single stronger tool.
